Training: Geriatric Nurse

The training to become a geriatric nurse imparts knowledge, skills and abilities for independent and responsible care, including advising, as well as accompanying and supporting older people. In addition, the training is designed to enable nurses to work together with others who care for the elderly and to also do subject-related administrative work.

The three-year training includes at least 2,500 hours of practice and 2,100 hours of theory. The practical training in geriatric care takes place in inpatient and outpatient facilities (see providers of practical training). The final examination consists of practical, written and oral sections.
