Anaesthesiology and Operative Intensive Care Medicine

Our Department of Anaesthesiology and Operative Intensive Care Medicine is responsible for the implementation of anaesthesia throughout the operational area and during diagnostic procedures. In addition, we care for critically ill patients on our surgical intensive care unit and patients with acute and chronic pain. The organisational management of the emergency medical service is the responsibility of our department, as is the technical support of the emergency medical service, together with the Internal Medicine and Surgical Departments.

In the clinical area, about 10,000 anaesthesia procedures are performed annually using a variety of methods. The modern anaesthetic procedures as well as the very high technical standards enable safe narcosis, especially for elderly patients with the corresponding risk factors. Personal care before and after surgery is very important to us, too. During the pre-surgical consultation in the premedication outpatient clinic, you will be given information about the anaesthesia procedure and made aware of possible risks. After the surgery, we are with you in the post-anaesthesia care unit (PACU) which has 10 monitored beds. For us, the personal care of our patients is a daily challenge - we want you to be comfortable with us and to feel that you are in good and, above all, safe hands.
