The Theresienkrankenhaus and St. Hedwig Klinik's pharmacy is a central point for the provision of medicines. The pharmacy supplies about 90 points of consumption in the Theresienkrankenhaus, St. Hedwig Klinik, the St. Josefskrankenhaus Heidelberg, the Johanniter Unfallhilfe [Knights of Malta Accident Assistance] and the Malteser Hilfsdienst [Maltese Emergency Service] with medicines, infusions, X-ray contrast media, disinfectants, drink and tube feeding.
All the employees see themselves as service providers within the hospital, for the benefit of the doctors, nursing staff, management, and especially the patients. A key objective is to ensure a high quality and, at the same time, economical drug therapy of patients. The pharmacy team ensures a prompt and consumption-adjusted supply, co-operates closely and interdisciplinarily with doctors and nursing staff, creates comprehensive medication information, makes others aware of the responsible use of medicinal products through the training of doctors and nurses, and provides specialised staff to the units. These responsibilities are always reviewed in the framework of the quality management system and services and working methods are adapted accordingly.
