The Department of Vascular and Endovascular Medicine in the Theresienkrankenhaus has already been certified several times by the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Gefäßchirurgie und Gefäßmedizin (German Society for Vascular Surgery and Vascular Medicine) as a vascular centre. Here, the expertise of a variety of disciplines is concentrated for the well-being of the patients: findings from angiology (the area of internal medicine which deals with vascular diseases), vascular surgery (surgical treatment methods of the blood vessels), phlebology (interdisciplinary specialism focusing on the veins) and lymphology (interdisciplinary specialism focusing on the lymph) flow together here in order to ensure a customised and optimum treatment for our patients.
All the diseases and disorders of the arterial, venous and lymphatic vascular system are detected by the use of modern diagnostic methods. By means of painless ultrasound diagnosis, including Doppler ultrasound sonography and colour duplex sonography, the vessels are represented, thus significantly aiding diagnosis. Outpatient, endoscopic surgery (for example, the Venus Closure procedure), which promotes the patients' quick recovery, forms a large part of our vascular surgical service spectrum. However, we do also carry out conservative treatment methods.
